You know how things you learned as a child come back to haunt you later on in life? I'm not talking about some scary or evil thing...just stupid things..such as campfire songs.
Or, maybe not campfire songs, but a song that someone once taught you that, try as hard as you might, you CANNOT erase it from your memory. It uses up valuable memory space and waits to surface at inopportune times.
Like when you're cooking...
Ever heard this one?
Grandma's cooking in the cellar
Oh Lordy can't you smell her
Burnin' biscuits on her durndled dirty stove
In her eye there is some matter
That keeps dripping in the batter
And she whistles while slggghhhhh (make the sound of slurping something) runs down her nose
Down her nose
Down her nose
She whistles while the slgggghhh runs down her nose
In her eye there is some matter
That keeps dripping in the batter
And she whistles while the slggghhhh runs down her nose
I think I've lost my appetite....

How Did The Meal Plan Go: Day Six
Day 6::
Breakfast: Cold cereal. I think I forgot to eat breakfast. I was awoken rather early by a terrified Mr. Dramatic.
"There's a bee in the living room!" He was stung by a wasp a few months back, so his fear is quite understandable.
"Honey are you sure it's a bee?" Often flying insects get slapped with the all inclusive: "It's a bee!!!!"
"Yes! It is black and yellow."
Oh joy, a yellow jacket in my living room.
My adrenaline starts to flow...can't decide at this point if it is the fight or flight mechanism kicking in. Briefly I consider the idea of waiting for my husband to get home in a mere six hours. But then I come back to reality. I am the mother. Their protector. I am the Bug Killer by default when Mr. Q is not home, and wasps are included in my job description.
I tell the boys to take care of their sister, say a prayer, ask my son exactly where it was when he last saw it, mentally say another prayer "Lord, please let it not be flying around like crazy!" and courageously step outside of the safety of my bedroom door.
Bleary-eyed, and squinting through glasses that have a four year old prescription in them, I locate the offender where my son had directed me. It was on the floor laying on its side.
Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! It's dead! Mr. Dramatic had told me it was alive and moving. Oh, wait a minute....nope, it's not dead! Eeek! Acckk!
Regain my lost bug killing composure and review my choices for weapons.
Library book? Nah, bug guts on public property not a good idea.
Rolled up newspaper? Nope, doesn't have enough accuracy. There is no room for error when dealing with wasps.
Finally, I settle on my husband's flip-flop. Big enough surface area for maximum annihilation assurance, long enough that if I miss I have a chance at a getaway.
Screw up the courage that seems to be draining from my body fast in vast amounts of perspiration.
One foot slowly moves forward. Stealth is everything. The other foot. I am now approximately six inches from the now more lively wasp.
WHACK! WHACK! WHACK!
WHACK! Sorry, one more for good measure.
Clean up bug guts and any possible stinger left on carpet. Exclaim joyfully and jitteryishly to your kids that it is dead.
Throw remains in the woodstove just in case...
Lunch:
Hubby ate out again (I know, I slacked.), kids and I had hotdogs with cheese.
Dinner:
Ranch chicken over leftover spaghetti. I think we are all a little tired of spaghetti now. The chicken was marinated in ranch sauce prior to baking in oven. It had a nice kick to it. The boys didn't want any chicken so they had noodles with butter and parmesan cheese.
***Edited: Okay, I CANNOT believe that none of you caught my horrible grammatical faux-paux! Maybe you all are just too sweet to correct me. What I meant to say is " I was awakened rather early.." Apparently I was still half asleep when I wrote and proofread my post....LOL!

I'm baaaaack
First of all, let me start of with a yell of celebration. I HAVE MY BLOG BACK!!! The sign in process is a little cumbersome, but I figured out a way to circumnavigate the glitch! YAYYYYYYY!!!!
I can't post much more than this because I have to get to work cleaning. We have an ant infestation and I have exhausted every natural means available to deter them. So we are going to annhilate them. We bought RAID foggers yesterday and we are going to set them off on Saturday while we are visiting my parents. You have to be out of the area for 4 hours and then you have to ventilate for 30 minutes. But I don't care how long it takes just as long as they are all DEAD when we get back. Gross... Hundreds of dead ants, spiders, mites, beetles, etc. Ewwww. But dead ones are better than live ones! Oh yeah, back to the cleaning. You have to make sure that all foodstuffs and dishes are not in the area. So what am I going to be doing today and tomorrow? Taking everything out of my kitchen and trying to find another place for it to safely stay until the nuclear warfare is over. Yay. ( Can you tell how enthused I am about having to take EVERYTHING out of my kitchen? ) Sigh.
So the evacuation awaits me. Gotta go!

It's As Easy As Pulling Teeth..
OK, WHO came up with that comparison?
Pulling teeth does not seem like it would be something easy and uncomplicated. Otherwise I could do it myself and save $800! Yes, that is the estimate that my dentist gave me on Wednesday. It gets better...I can't have my wisdom teeth extracted until the INFECTION is dealt with. So I am on a fast-track antibiotic for five days. I go back to the dentist on Monday.
So now I have all weekend to imagine all sorts of horrible dental scenarios. Can you tell that I absolutely loathe going to the dentist? Just sitting in the waiting room made me extremely uneasy. Then the dentist came out and was talking with the mother of another patient about EXTRACTING WISDOM TEETH. Only the terminology he used was, "So we're just going to yank those babies out of his head." OK, hyperventilating a little bit more now! And I waited an hour until I oould go back, so I had mentally worked myself up a bit.
"I'm an adult. I can handle this. I've given birth to three children WITHOUT epidurals."
The internal dialogue got louder...
"You know, my teeth don't really hurt today. Maybe I can just get out of here. Maybe I was imagining all of that oral agony the past two weeks! I think I'm going to be fine."
Then the mother in me spoke up...
"You stay put! You need to go see the dentist. You could have an infection and it could be heading toward your brain. You do know that people have DIED from oral infections, don't you??"
(No my mother doesn't sound like that..I guess it was a combination of mother-voice and all those scary ER real life shows I have watched..lol!)
So I stayed put. Endured the x-rays, which normally would be painless but with those plate things poking me in my oh-so-very-inflamed gums, not so much fun. Then I met the dentist, took a deep breath and said "AHHH." He poked around in my mouth a little (again painful!) and proceeded to announce to me that I had an oral infection and that my wisdom teeth needed to come out. I remember hearing that somewhere first, don't you? lol!
I hop out of the chair and skeddadle (what a funny word!)to the appointment desk. As I am writing out the check for services rendered, I am slightly shaking. I could chalk that up to not having enough to eat because it hurts so much to eat, or to dental chair jitters. I think it was a combination of both. What an adrenaline rush! But I am not an adrenaline junkie, so I did not enjoy the experience at all! LOL
Trying not to obsess about my appointment on Monday...ah, but going to the dentist is as easy as pulling teeth, right?
