When We Get Bigger And Other Lessons

Right now my two sons are discussing the benefits of getting bigger...
"Mom, are we gonna have kids when we get bigger?" JM questions me.
"After you get married, I am sure you will have kids." I reply
At this point JM and IE are laughing so hard they can barely speak (apparently having kids is funny...lol)
"I'm going to have two boys!" JM enthusiastically announces.
"Me too!" IE chimes in.
At this point I get the distinct impression that they are planning to marry each other when they grow up...(ahh brotherly love and such innocence)
"But you have to marry a girl when you grow up." I clarify for them.
"I'm going to marry AJ!" JM states matter-of-factly.
"Um, you can't marry your sister honey."
"Why not?"
"God doesn't want you to marry your sister. He wants you to marry someone else."
"What is her name?"
"I don't know, only God knows."
The boys laugh and move onto other pressing matters, like what car we are going to buy for them when they get older...hah! (I informed them that they would be buying their own cars.)

It just made me think of how family truly prepares us to love other people. And also, how you can start building solid family values at any age. They don't need to know about homosexuality or incest right now. All they need to know is the basics: you can't marry your sister or your brother no matter how much you like them and only God knows who you will marry.

Actually, it made me kind of proud that they had even considered marrying their sister...lol...at least the lesson of loving your siblings has set in!Photobucket

I agree, my kids sometimes talk about getting married in the same way yours do. Although I have one that says he is never going to get married because he never wants to move out!
